Personal Details :
Served 23 years in Royal Australian Air Force , from Jan 1971 to Dec
1993 as
an Avionics Technician. Retired as Flight Sergeant.
Spent most of my career on Dassault Mirage 1110 and 111D, followed
by C130
Hercules and P3 Orion. Also worked on Sabre and Dakota aircraft.
My last posting was as SNCOic of Avionics Section for F/A-18. Due to
my
management role, I had very little "hands-on" experience with the F/A-18,
in
fact, I can't recall even sitting in one !!!!
My time on the other aircraft was substantial and the knowledge gained
in my
field (and others) has been very helpful in putting together my sim.
I have had no experience with the F-111, although I did get to sit
in one
when they first arrived here back in the 70's, but can't recall too
much
detail about them.
I chose this aircraft as the basis for my sim for the following
reasons :
1. I already had a dual, side-by-side base built with pedals fitted
and
didn't want to restart the whole thing,
2. I wanted a current RAAF aircraft,
3. I wanted something that could fly low and fast, and
4. I wanted an aircraft that was 60's-70's technology. Although the
"glass
cockpit" types look flash and are "easier" to build, I still like the
look
of analogue gauges etc.
I'm willing to part with my knowledge and experience to other sim builders
if required. Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer and like many others
must
rely on the experts in that field but I can assist in most areas electrical
and electronic.
That's me in a nutshell (or nutcase, as my better half often says !!)
