My interest in aviation began at an early age when I had to put on a suit to travel on an airplane over to Central Africa, where I spent most of my childhood growing up. No F-4's or F-104s overhead for me; instead I grew up with the sound of MiG-17's and -21s in the sky (and the occasional Rhodesian Alouette). I've always built plastic models and been fascinated by computers. When my friend's dad bought an Apple ][e , he also picked up Sublogic's Flight Simulator. I spent as much time as I could soaring over that green grid and the 2d mountains. It fascinated me, for some reason. Returning to America in the early eighties I kept buying simulators. Some of the more interesting ones I remember are Flight of the intruder and the original Tank platoon . I also loved Secret weapons of the Luftwaffe. My most recent interest is helicopter simulations. One of the frustrating things for me in simulation is the lack of peripheral vision. I like to look around! Looking around the Internet a few years ago for more information on extending my field of view I saw a lot of disparate pages on the subject of cockpit building, but they were scattered. So I placed my bookmarks on the web for all to use! I currently live in Knoxville, TN USA and am employed as a CADD specialist. ---end--- Caption for photo: An old photo of me sitting in some old German plane :) Derek
