Hello and welcome to the Simpits.org Website.
My name is Derek Higgs, You might know me from my Cockpit Links' Pages.
This organization is in some ways related to my site,
but is much bigger than any one person.

This web site is the cumulation of several years of dreaming, and the
combined efforts of people from across the world working for a common goal.
Although there were many web sites with information related to home built
cockpits located on the web, until I started creating a list of pages in
July 1998 (originally my favorites list), there was no real sense of
community.

The real catalyst for this organization came when a mail list
was created in July 1999. The people associated with the mail list and this
site realised that we could be more effective working together than as
individuals. The work was quickly divided up and talented individuals
started work on the various aspects of this site.
